Retaining Walls and Water Features Built to Hold
Stacked-stone walls that handle a sloped North Houston yard, and water features that make the whole space feel finished.
A retaining wall is the part of your yard you only think about when it fails, and a water feature is the part everyone notices first. We design and build both to last, so a slope stops washing out and a sheer-descent wall or basin gives the space a reason to sit outside.
Engineered for clay, not just stacked
Missouri City and Sugar Land sit on expansive clay that swells and shrinks with the seasons, and that movement is what cracks and tilts a wall built without a plan. We design for it: proper footing depth, a perforated drain line at the base, a gravel drainage zone behind the wall with filter fabric, and geogrid reinforcement on taller runs. The wall you see is the smaller half of the work.
Drainage is the actual product
Most failed retaining walls in this area did not fail because of the block. They failed because water built up behind them with nowhere to go, and the pressure pushed the wall out. We build the drainage path first and the wall around it, so storm runoff exits away from the wall instead of loading it. That is the difference between a wall that lasts decades and one that leans in a few years.
Water features designed for Texas heat
A water feature only stays beautiful if it survives July. We build pondless and recirculating sheer-descent features with hidden reservoirs sized for fast evaporation, so the basin does not run dry on a 100-degree afternoon. No standing pond to grow algae, an option for an auto-fill line, and a pump matched to the sound you actually want at the patio.
One crew, design through build
Albert designs the wall, the grade, and the water feature as one system, then stays involved while our crew builds it. The stone you pick, the LED lighting tucked into the wall, and the way water sheets over the face all get decided together, not bolted on later by a different subcontractor.
